Frequently Asked Questions

  • A matching gift is when a person donates to a nonprofit and their employer donates an equal or greater amount to the same nonprofit.

This provides an excellent way to double, or sometimes even triple, your original donation at no additional cost to you.

  • Matching gift programs operate at no additional cost to you. You are only responsible for your initial donation, your employer will cover the rest!

  • Valley Medical Free Clinic is exempt from federal income taxes under Section 501(C)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. All personal donations made are fully tax-deductible. Your employer may also be able to deduct a portion of their matched gift.

  • This process can take anywhere between two and four weeks, sometimes longer, as the matching donation form is processed.

Once the form is approved, it may take even longer for your company to mail a donation match check.

If your employer’s program approves the donation match, a check will be sent to us according to your company's guidelines. You should receive an email confirming the approval.

  • If a company does not approve a matching gift, the company will contact you and us with the reason the match was rejected. The donation request is often rejected because the donated amount is not within the company’s program parameters.
